The most fun you've ever had with a pencil and paper
In the classic math circle tradition, the Caltech Math Circle is a community of young mathematicians and enthusiasts who gather weekly to explore interesting mathematical problems, concepts, and theories beyond the standard curriculum. Our mission is to inspire and develop mathematical thinking through engaging activities and discussions. And to learn stuff we as teachers and researchers wish we'd learned much, much earlier.
In our math circle in particular, we try to balance learning the most fun and engaging math topics, developing the fundamentals you'll need to understand AI and quantum computation, math competition prep, and deriving important things from first principles that they'll later ask you to memorize in school.
Stay tuned for our upcoming events! While our math circle has room for lots of different students of all backgrounds and many different levels, you gotta come prepared and do the work. So check back here for assignments and background prep materials.
Here are a few examples of Math Circle activities, roughly according to age group.
